What is the drawback of living in one city and going to a school in another?

I'm moving to Michigan this summer and I'm considering going to the high school in my city but I will have to provide my own transportation. It's because the school in the other city is closer from where I live, they're at least 10 miles apart. I want to know if it will be hard for me like for instance, playing a sport against my hometown. Of course, I would support my town but then I play for my school. Same goes for making friends as well. Both school are new and has a high rating but the problem is I couldn't go to the school in my city since I don't drive yet. So what are the advantages and disadvantages for each?
