Swollen gums and eating turkey?

My gums are pretty swollen especially around my bottom and top canine on one side. Could this be because i had a turkey sandwich? It sounds strange put they just flared up all of a sudden after eating it. The gums around my bottom canine are red where the cheeck meets the base of the gums, the triangular piece of gum in between the tooth is swollen and even on the tounge side there is a large but not red area of swelling. Is thius a clic case of infected or swollen gums, or is it something more serious.
